ADAM Systems Debuts GeoProcessor Engine For Geospatial Imagery Digital Asset Management Applications

San Jose, Calif., July 7, 2003

The ADAM Systems Group of Advanced Software Resources, Inc. (ASR), a Silicon Valley based Digital Asset Management solutions provider, today unveiled its GeoProcessorTM, a standalone Solaris-based application for satellite and aerial imagery data processing.

The ADAM Systems GeoProcessor retrieves metadata and source imagery from customer-specified source files, manages the data ingest process and generates imagery products. The unique software solution handles a variety of data types, including imagery from Landsat, SPOT, RADARSAT and IKONOS satellites as well as TIFF, GeoTIFF and JPEG formats, among others. GeoProcessor customers benefit from a focused solution to handle data ingest and cataloging that can be integrated into an overall imagery management system.

“We are pleased to offer our customers this streamlined and flexible solution for satellite imagery processing,” said Robert Schreiner, ADAM Systems Group chief technology officer. “The adaptable GeoProcessor has been integrated into our flagship ADAM System G-Series solution for total imagery management, from ingest to archive to distribution.” The GeoProcessor software has already been delivered to its first customer, where it is hosted on a Sun Enterprise 4500 platform.

After discovering and retrieving source imagery, the GeoProcessor transforms and creates National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) versions, placing the resulting product files in a designated output directory or user-defined mailbox. The GeoProcessor can process data from both single (panchromatic) and multiband (color and multispectral) files. Additional output products include multiple Zoom-Level views, Bitmap Browse images and Thumbnails, and text-formatted Metadata with processing results. All of these are in standard formats, accessible for use by commercial asset management and exploitation systems.

Like the ADAM Systems G-Series, the GeoProcessor was designed to address the proliferation of imagery data sources, file types and geospatial tools used for applications as diverse as surveillance, environmental research and disaster recovery.

“ADAM Systems technologies have been managing high-value digital assets in mission critical government geospatial applications for nearly two decades,” continued Schreiner. “We are leveraging that expertise into the commercial sector with products such as the GeoProcessor, building on a strong legacy of scalable, robust and highly secure digital asset management solutions.”
"The GeoProcessor incorporates the technical strengths of its parent ADAM System capabilities, proven daily in continuous operations," concluded Schreiner. “Both accelerate the geospatial information processing chain through advanced automation techniques.”

When integrated into an ADAM Systems G-Series, the GeoProcessor becomes part of an overall asset management system that not only processes the incoming data, but efficiently catalogs, archives, tracks, manages, distributes and preserves still and motion digital imagery assets – all through a single browser-based interface. Additional functionality available through incorporation with the ADAM G-Series includes advanced query techniques that allow users to search for imagery by circumscribing a map or by descriptive metadata. A portion or chip of an image can be ordered and software tools applied to analyze the data and produce new product.

The G-Series also offers advanced security and asset preservation functionality. Multi-level security schemes screen and control query, access and manipulation privileges, while security logs permanently record each and every transaction. ADAM preservation schemes automate media maintenance and data quality preservation. Coupled with the ability to accept future storage technologies and formats, the ADAM G-Series extends an unlimited life span to the content captured by the GeoProcessor and its derivatives.
